Since 1985, we have led the effort to permanently protect the history of Colleton County.
Our Mission
The mission of the Colleton Museum & Farmers Market is to preserve and promote the historical, natural, cultural, and agricultural heritage of Colleton County through the care and conservation of collections, research, interpretation, exhibitions and educational programs.
What We've Achieved
- 2016 Local Foods, Local Places given by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as a federal initiative that helps communities increase economic opportunities for local farmers and related businesses, create vibrant places and promote childhood wellness by improving access to healthy local foods.
- 2012 Paul & Jacob Walter Award given by the Colleton County Historical & Preservation Society for Adaptive Use of an Historic Building
2012 Achievement Winner given by the National Association of Counties. Award presented to Colleton County, SC, for its program, Museum/Farmers Market, in recognition of an effective and innovative program which contributes to and enhances County Government in the United States.
- 2012 J. Mitchell Graham Award presented by the South Carolina Association of Counties to the County (Colleton County) that has Excelled in Governmental Performance During the Past Fiscal Year. For the Colleton Museum & Farmers Market project.
- 2012 American Planning Association, South Carolina Chapter, Award for Outstanding Planning Project, Small Jurisdiction. Presented to Colleton County Museum & Farmers Market, Colleton County.
